in sickness and in health

All things are a give and take, even between the living and inanimate. Sadly, not long after I brought Flirt home, things took a turn for the worse for me. I was renting a small home at the time. It was run down, I had a landlord who was elderly and more concerned with rent checks than making sure the place was livable. Every time I brought something to his attention, he would blow it off. When I said I had a window that leaked, he told me they were new windows. Same with the roof.

Well, attached to said house was a small room that had been illegally added on about 20some odd years before. It did not have a proper foundation and was not even heated. As it slowly sank into the ground, it pulled away just enough to allow rain to seep in. I think in the 7 years I lived there, I patched the roof 5 times. At the end of last summer I started to get some nasty colds. It seemed like I was having one head cold after another. I did not think much of it as I work in a casino and interact with hundreds of people daily.

And then, one day during December, I walked into this room and I could smell the mold. I went looking for it, and discovered a serious case of Black Mold had moved in. This was what was making me so ill. At this point my minor colds had turned to full blown sinus infections and my normally low blood pressure was skyrocketing. I had to get out of there, but had no where to go… and not enough money to secure a month and a half deposit as work was in it’s normal winter downswing (I worked on demand at the time).

I can only thank my Father for all this. At the same time my very elderly Grandmother had finally moved into assisted living (at age 92!) and was in the process of selling her home in Florida where my Father had been living with her and taking care of her. In short order, he had bought a home up here in New Jersey and knowing what I was going through, invited me to live with him.

It took some months to get my health back to normal.. and during that same time I was offered a very coveted spot as a Full Time Stage Electrician at the Borgata Hotel, Casino, and Spa. these positions do not open up often (one opens up every couple of years) so I now had a healthy place to live, and a more steady income. Two things that allowed me to turn my health around and get work done to Flirt.

This should bring most of this story up to date so I can proceed with actually showing you what I have gotten done

A long time sailor who has been away from the water for too long, I am working hard to bring an old and abused boat back to life. When not working on my boat, I can often be found working as a Stage Hand in Atlantic City or just out and about on my Mountain Bike. I really come off as a quiet and boring person when people first meet me.
