The Daily Grind

Sitting here at work, even after taking a hot shower, and then many hours after the fact, I still find my arms to be a little itchy and raw after working on Flirt this morning. I picked up a “flapper wheel” for my right angle grinder and spent a very busy 10 minutes grinding back all the high spots and air bubbles in her stern where I began filling in the hole I created by cutting of her “rail”

The Grinder with wheel made very short work of what would be a nasty, slow, and tedious job. Instead of several hours fruitlessly labouring to smooth the glassfibre, I sent all useless pieces off in a cloud of white dust that covered everything, including myself. Great fun, but not enough time for contemplation, other than the realization that I could accidently do a lot of damage to her stern if I were not totally focused and careful with such a powerful tool.

A long time sailor who has been away from the water for too long, I am working hard to bring an old and abused boat back to life. When not working on my boat, I can often be found working as a Stage Hand in Atlantic City or just out and about on my Mountain Bike. I really come off as a quiet and boring person when people first meet me.
