More Fibre in Flirt’s Diet

keel repairsWork progresses well on the damage to Flirt’s keel. It is only slowed by that pesky work thing and the need to let resin cure between sandings. Tomorrow, being a holiday here in the US, will see no work at all done. Being Labor day, I will be busy laboring, loading in the Borgata Open Poker Tournament. The 10am till 6pm times make it near impossible for me to do anything. So, I thought I would give a quick show of what I got done today.

After backing the hole I cut in the side of Flirt’s keel, I started with a couple layers of resin before adding carbonfibre. I am unsure how many layers I added, as I was applying them as I went to build the area up to meet the rest of the keel. A couple of wait times to cure, some sandings, and I added more until it was almost completely level.

Now all that is left is to sand it smooth and work on the really big hole on the trailing edge of my Sprite’s keel

A long time sailor who has been away from the water for too long, I am working hard to bring an old and abused boat back to life. When not working on my boat, I can often be found working as a Stage Hand in Atlantic City or just out and about on my Mountain Bike. I really come off as a quiet and boring person when people first meet me.
