More white stuff

I finally got my little shopvac down into the guts of flirt today. This one sits on top of one of those 5 gallon buckets (or the shorter 2.5 gallon buckets like I use it on) that the big box home improvement stores sell. For what it is, they work great and can get into areas where my big shop vac won’t fit.. like in Flirt’s v-berth area.

After unclogging it twice, I managed to suck up almost a pound of dust from all my previous grindings. I know there is more, hidden in all the cracks, crevices, and areas I did not go, but I was duly impressed with how much dust I made. I told everyone I was going to make serious mess.. but nobody believed me.

So I slowly creep forwards on the work. I hope to find time this Saturday (I do not go into work till 4pm) to cut out the Portside forward chain plate so I can grind all that smooth. On my next day off (which I hope will be Monday) I will start grinding on the under deck so I can start epoxying the oak supports in.

A long time sailor who has been away from the water for too long, I am working hard to bring an old and abused boat back to life. When not working on my boat, I can often be found working as a Stage Hand in Atlantic City or just out and about on my Mountain Bike. I really come off as a quiet and boring person when people first meet me.
