it’s springtime for…

No, I am not going to launch into that song from the Producers.. as tempting as it might be, I did spend several months on it’s production and I can still recall all the words.. but it does not change the fact that although it may not be officially spring, it has sprung.

Today it was warm enough to work without heat or a jacket. 50+ degrees (10+ c for those of you in the rest of the world) but rain was threatening. Before the first drop fell though, I managed to get 3/4s of the foredeck sanded down to raw ‘glass. While yesterday I worked with the great boat destroyer known as an angle grinder, today I broke out the drill with the sanding discs. This went faster and smoother than the grinder could ever do.. even if I went through 5 discs to the one the grinder would have.

Picture was taken in the rain, I tried to get up on deck to get a better shot, but it was more slippery than snail snot… (quite an image that)

more ground down foredeck

Soon, I will be able to smooth it all down, layer it in C/F, smooth it down again, and primer.. that day is coming quickly. It had better come quickly, I am back to doing something I enjoy rather than either going to work or hibernating inside while the temps stay way below freezing..

A long time sailor who has been away from the water for too long, I am working hard to bring an old and abused boat back to life. When not working on my boat, I can often be found working as a Stage Hand in Atlantic City or just out and about on my Mountain Bike. I really come off as a quiet and boring person when people first meet me.

  1. Thank you for following our adventures in sailing and photography. We appreciate your interest. Flirt’s refit sounds like a demanding project – but probably also very satisfying. Boats are so much work, but also so much fun! Chris & Wade
