Epoxy is better than hairspray!

And much more difficult to get out!

Just finished up laying Carbonfibre in the forepeak. From the point of the bow back to where the forward bulkhead between the v-berth and the anchor locker goes. It is now all sanded smooth and layered in glossy black CF. It still needs another layer of epoxy to make it truly strong, but it is getting there and going forwards.

CF forepeak

While I wish I could have done it all in one continuous sheet, it was just one of those things I had to do in sections. As it stands now, the very leading edge of the bow has it’s original ‘glass and then a layer of C/F on the outside below the waterline and then two layers on the inside. Hopefully if I ever run into something, Flirt will be strong enough to avoid getting holed there.

I need to order another couple of yards of C/F before I can go further sternwards.. but I can still work on getting the bulkhead done and the next layer of Epoxy over the carbon to make it all strong, smooth, and very shiny.

Now to get the epoxy hair net off

A long time sailor who has been away from the water for too long, I am working hard to bring an old and abused boat back to life. When not working on my boat, I can often be found working as a Stage Hand in Atlantic City or just out and about on my Mountain Bike. I really come off as a quiet and boring person when people first meet me.
